We have active and even passionate discussions about PCT through CSGNet, our e-mail discussion list. Anyone interested in discussing the current state of PCT is welcome to join the list, read the messages, and even post.

What We Talk About

Short answer: perceptual control theory and its research, applications, and how the theory works in "real life".

Much of the discussion on this list reflects the rigorous "engineering science" discipline of PCT. There is also discussion about applying PCT to issues of personal relationships, education, and management.

You might also take a look at our "Best of CSGNet" collection, which is about 100 articles of interest from the early years of our e-mail list.

Who Should Subscribe

Anyone who's seriously interested in perceptual control theory and how it fits into the world___________________

Who You'll Meet

Our e-mail list draws discussion from people with many interests and backgrounds, including psychology, sociology, linguistics, artificial intelligence, robotics, social work, neurology, modeling and testing.

Many of the people on our Who's Who page read and post to the list regularly, too.

Traffic

If you're considering subscribing, you may wonder how many additional e-mail messages you'll receive from this list. The traffic on the list varies. Sometimes there will be fewer than 20 messages in a week, sometimes more than 100. Subscribers can choose to receive messages in a digest, which means they'll just get one big combined message periodically instead of many single messages.

Posting Messages / Asking Questions

You do have to subscribe before you can post messages. If you have subscribed, you can post a message to the whole list by just sending an e-mail to CSGNET@LISTSERV.UIUC.EDU

When you post your first message, please introduce yourself with a statement of your professional interests and background. It's friendly and it helps everyone communicate better.

If you have a question about PCT, first please make sure it's not already answered somewhere on this site. It will help get you a better answer if you spell out which demonstrations, introductory papers, and other resources you have already taken the time to digest.
